It’s Time for Columbia U. To Do Right Thing: Fire Dr. Shafik

I’m not that influential to where my word could sway a board, but I hope that by joining the many voices through my blog and podcast to call for either resignation or firing of Dr. Shafik, these calls will not fall on deaf ears.

Columbia University did a 45 minute dissertation on my complex body back in 1992 I believe. Yes, little me was discussed by faculty of Columbia University because of the great care they took of my family and I while in the NICU. So this, this pains me to have to write something like this. Yet, it has to be done.

What’s going on at Columbia right now is beyond distrust or dislike of the Israeli government, this is targeting of every day Jewish Americans that want nothing but peace on their campus and in their lives! The Jewish community should not have to fear for their life so much so everything has gone remote the rest of semester.

The C of Columbia has become Coddling of Anti-Semitism. Instead of removing the ‘I am Hamas’ crowd and their encampment, Columbia President Dr. Nemat Shafik and the board are telling Jewish students and professors they don’t have the right to be on campus by moving everything to remote instead of removing the problem! That is how Columbia has become a coddler of anti-Semitism!

Though 100+ students have been arrested and suspended at Columbia, it’s clear the University President is not doing enough. She’s not even listening to Jewish professors who are speaking out. It seems she’s not even listening to Campus Rabbi Elie Beuchler (https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/21/us/columbia-university-jewish-students-protests/index.html) Despite concerns voiced by the Jewish student body and faculty, nothing has really been done except move everything remote instead of standing up for the Jewish community and removing the hatred. Oh by the way, As of this writing she has not resigned or been fired!

When the NYPD intervene, we should be proud of them for breaking up anti-Semitic encampments ! They are not stopping free speech, they are stopping anarchy as best they can when they are called in to help. It is not the NYPD that are being militarized.

What Dr. Shafik has enabled is a militarization of anarchy and anti-Semitism and that is the biggest reason why she should resign!
