Strike Up the Banned

Oh play on words, how fun it can be! Except, there is a serious consequence expected when the word ‘ban’ comes up .

People realized the power of the word ‘ban’ when a Muslim ban was proposed by Trump in 2016 campaign. Of course, he was just using the template the Obama admin used for 8 years!

People realized the power of the word ‘ban’ when baseball, yes our national pastime , was on trial with sluggers like Mark McGwire and Rafa Palmeiro when they took BANNED substances to enhance their already prestigious batting averages and home run totals.

People know the power of the word ‘ban’, no one wants to be banned. The word itself indicates a power that is unleashed by authoritative figures whether in sports, politics, dining establishments, etc.

So, why the HECK is Mayor de Blasio unleashing the ‘ban’! Why is our Mayor, the Mayor of New York City telling companies NOT to build to enhance our skyline and oh by the way bring in more revenue for this city! In case you missed it this week, the Mayor was on MSNBC spouting this , “We are going to ban the classic glass and steel skyscrapers which are incredibly inefficient,” he added. “If someone wants to build one of those things they can take a whole lot of steps to make it energy efficient, but we’re not going to allow what we’ve seen in the past.” By saying ‘we are not going to allow what we’ve seen in the past’, it’s almost like he spit in the face of immigrants that toiled and got their hands scuffed up and scarred building beauties like the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building.

Yet, that little three letter word, ban, was not retired out to pasture with that statement. NOW, this Mayor is banning HOT DOGS! FREAKING HOT DOGS!!

He made sure to do a press conference on it this week, but where was he when in Flatiron, manholes just went sky high and injured four people? Where was his angry tweet or press conference about that? Hmmmmm?

We should be firing bad inspectors who do faulty checks on our infrastructure, including manhole covers. We should be banning, or should I say, firing people who take overtime in the MTA and do nothing (https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2019/04/24/the-mta-is-hemorrhaging-overtime/amp/). Ultimately, the ‘Banned’ leader in New York City cannot be banned in his term, though with ethics probes still swirling, maybe a Godly miracle can take place for the Big Apple!
