As beautiful as Yankee Stadium is, the energy 15 years after its Inaugural Opening Day in 2009, feels like a renovation to the House that George built.

It’s true, Mr. Steinbrenner pushed for this stadium and secured the funding for it back in 2006, way before ground was broken . This renovation is not so much a structural renovation but a cultural renovation.

Aaron Judge started this renovation when he hit is first Major League home run during his MLB debut in 2016, but adding the Soto Shuffle is bringing the energy that a Nick Swisher brought to the first season in 2009. That energy has helped renovate the infrastructure of the New York Yankees, which is part of renovating the 15 year old Yankee Stadium.

Soto’s energy is feeding up and down the line up as I’ve noticed on base percentages UP even when averages are starting out slow . Why? This team is taking its WALKS. Judge and Soto are tied with 26 walks through first 36 games of the season. Having a good eye at the plate will prove huge as we move along in the 2024 season. They are also playing more small ball with that mix of classic long ball power. Even yesterday, 5/5/24, it was a clutch bases-clearing double by Soto that helped get the Yanks a sweep of the Tigers in the bottom of the 7th !

I also believe that Opening Day game-saving put out when Soto launched a throw home to the plate on a LINE to Trevino for the second out of that 9th inning in Houston on Opening Day set the tone for this stage of renovation to such a beautiful Stadium.

Most renovations involve infrastructure changes, but Hal Steinbrenner and Brian Cashman has changed the baseball infrastructure within the New Yankee Stadium. Thanks to the addition of Juan Soto. Isn’t that all we could ask for in the ‘RepBx’ community ? We as baseball fans want to enjoy the game in a beautiful house which Yankee Stadium is, as we all make it OUR house each year. Yet, that feeling of comfort comes with the expectation of adding another World Series trophy to the mantle.

This stage of renovation of this House would be complete if 2024 completed the quest for 28. For now, I think this has become the House that Soto has rebuilt and it’s only game two of the 81 game slate!

That’s the renovation the Yankees and Yankee fans needed to start this new campaign!
